New Acoustics Laboratory in Rouffach

The chamber was completed in May 2008 after a two-year planning and construction period.

A German-French team was responsible for planning of the laboratory, which is chiefly intended for internal testing, but is also available to customers.

The walls and ceiling are lined with sound-absorbent panels, while the floor is supported on large springs to avoid contact with the external walls. This allows the sound to be reflected and acoustical bridges are avoided. Test vehicles can be driven straight into the laboratory and the engine can continue to run during testing. The sound waves of the modules being tested are measured with the help of microphones positioned primarily in the headrests. This is the best way to simulate normal driving conditions.
